It all started in the summer of 2014, in Norway. I followed the scent of something delicious and found my Aunt Liv baking crispbread. One bite, and I was hooked. Back in Brooklyn, I began baking in my own kitchen, sharing batches with friends and family and slowly perfecting the recipe. After countless batches (and many happy tasters), Norwegian Baked was born.
With a basket of samples in hand, I visited a few neighborhood shops in Brooklyn. They loved it — and placed their first orders.
What began in my home oven with just two flavors has grown into a small batch bakery in Brooklyn. Today, Norwegian Baked Knekkebrød can be found in stores nationwide, at farmers’ markets, and through our online shop—still baked with the same care and Nordic tradition that started it all.

First, we scale the dry ingredients. Next, we separate the batches and flavor them accordingly. After adding the wet ingredients, we mix the batter and pour it into a lined pan. Off to bake!
The crispbread is scored and slowly baked until perfectly golden.
